Company background
BakkerElkhuizen was founded in 1994 in the Netherlands by movement scientists Wim Bakker and Jan-Willem Elkhuizen, initially as an ergonomics consultancy, before launching the Q-Doc in-line document holder that same year to address neck strain from desk-based paperwork. The company, headquartered in Vught, later added monitor stands (1998) and laptop stands (1999), and holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification. Harley Systems, led by John van Hooft, acquired the company in 2006, and BakkerElkhuizen absorbed ErgoDirect in 2022. It distributes across roughly fifteen European countries as well as Australia and the United States.
