The Senator Group was founded in 1976 in Accrington, Lancashire, when Colin Mustoe began designing and manufacturing office furniture. The company remains family-owned: Colin Mustoe still chairs the business, now run day-to-day by his son Robert alongside family members Julia and Janice. Senator states it employs more than 1,400 people globally and operates a North American headquarters in Maumee, Ohio, established in 2012, in addition to its Lancashire manufacturing base. Its portfolio includes the Senator, Torasen and Allermuir brands, and it runs re:work, a circular-economy program that remanufactures and refurbishes furniture to reduce material and carbon impact.
