Company background
Interstuhl's roots trace to 1731, when the Link family entered the blacksmith trade in Tieringen, Germany; the business shifted into office-chair manufacturing in the 1960s and adopted the Interstuhl brand name in 1967. It remains an independent, owner-managed family company, now led by third-generation family members Helmut and Joachim Link, headquartered in Messstetten-Tieringen in the Swabian Alb. As of December 2020, Interstuhl reported 690 employees, revenue of 145.7 million euros and an equity ratio above 50%. Its portfolio spans the Interstuhl, Bimos and Backforce brands; the Backforce chair line carries Blue Angel and GREENGUARD Gold environmental certifications.
