Company background
Dauphin was founded in 1968–69 by Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin, who began developing an ergonomically contoured office chair from a small workshop near Bavaria, Germany, before relocating to Offenhausen in 1973, where the company remains headquartered. Dauphin HumanDesign Group was formally established in 2002 to unite the sales, marketing and consultancy functions of subsidiary brands Bosse, Trendoffice and Züco under one family-owned, independent structure. The group states it operates in 81 countries through its own subsidiaries and trading partners, with dedicated sales branches in Australia, Singapore, the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands/Belgium. Its sustainability program includes ISO 14001 certification (since 2003), EMAS registration (since 2010), the Blue Angel and EU Ecolabel marks, FSC-certified wood, and membership in the SEAQUAL Initiative for recycled marine plastics.
