Company background
Allsteel is a U.S. office furniture manufacturer founded in 1912 as the Allsteelequip Company in Aurora, Illinois, and credited with pioneering the lateral file cabinet in the late 1960s. It has operated as a brand of HNI Corporation (NYSE: HNI) since the companies merged in 1998, and is headquartered in Muscatine, Iowa; HNI reported net sales of $2.526 billion for fiscal year 2024. Allsteel's certifications include Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze status for select products, SCS Indoor Advantage Gold, FSC Chain of Custody, and BIFMA LEVEL certification. In 2014, its Clarity chair, developed with BMW Group DesignworksUSA, won an Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award.
